We are a friendly, caring and informal group of men and women who meet on Monday afternoons from 2.15pm until 3.30pm in the Hall at Bookham Baptist Church.
Although most of our members are retired, there is no lower or upper age limit and our members are drawn from all church backgrounds and none! Everyone is welcome. For those physically unable to get to the meeting, we make every effort to try to arrange transport.
As folk arrive we serve a cup of tea or coffee, plus some extremely tasty biscuits, and this gives us a time to chat and generally catch up with one another. The meeting commences with a short time of worship, followed by a different speaker or activity each week. Our programmes are quite varied and copies are usually available in the church foyer. During 2014 we have, to name but a few, learned about the work of the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and R.N.L.I., enjoyed two concerts, shared news from the Leprosy Mission in Nepal, and were updated on the work of the National Trust Ranger on Bookham Commons. We have celebrated Easter and Harvest, and enjoyed gifted speakers helping us to understand the relevance of the Bible teaching in today’s world.
Our next sessions run from January until Easter when we make way for the youngsters to have their Easter Holiday Club. Then we begin again on the after Easter and take a break during August each summer and do not meet on Bank Holidays. The church office will be very pleased to put you in touch with the leader.
